The works on view at Eleven Rivington have long since distanced themselves from this beginning, having appeared in an artist book, then haphazardly rearticulated through three - color process paintings (cyan, yellow, and magenta), scanned and digitally distributed on his and others tumblr pages, and presently re-photographed through a PDF generating application on his phone, the images from which provide the basis for this exhibition.

Books, exhibition catalogues, instructional DVDs are cherished resources for new painters seeking guidance and support for their own work as well as insight into the work of the featured artist.

Her solo exhibition «Carrie Mae Weems: Considered» is on view at the SCAD Museum of Art through June 12; She is directing «Grace Notes: Reflections for Now,» a special performance at Spoleta Festival USA in Charleston, S.C. (June 4 - 5); and her book «Carrie Mae Weems: Kitchen Table Series,» which explores one of her early and most acclaimed bodies of work, was published last month.

This exhibition at CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts coincides with a period of critical acclaim for Pryde, with her work featured on the front cover of Artforum (April 2012), her inclusion in the major group exhibition New Photography at the Museum of Modern Art (2013), and The Enjoyment of Photography (2015), a monographic book on her photography recently published by JRP Ringier in collaboration with Kunsthalle Bern and Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf.

Additionally, the book features little - seen archival imagery of Riley at work over the years; documentation of her recent commissions for St. Mary's Hospital in West London; and installation views of the London exhibition itself.

Accompanying the exhibition, is a new publication, a supplemental book that presents scholarly texts by curator and art historian, Iris Müller - Westermann, Senior Curator of International Art at Moderna Museet, Stockholm and by New York based scholar, critic and curator, Alex Bacon; in addition it includes a visual essay that traces the specific historical inspirations and touchstones for this group of works, in hopes to speak to both the past and future.

The news triggers for this year's exhibition are the same: Morris has gained worldwide attention for her unique series and recent book publication, Gaman (also known as Gayman) died in 2014 and Fox had art work recently accepted into the collection, forming the basis for her exhibition in «Parrish Perspectives».

Jones completed a private residency program in Northern California in summer of 2016, during which he produced new work for the exhibition from books deaccessioned by the Department of African American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

Inspired by Stanford faculty member Jeff Chang's much lauded book «Who We Be: A Cultural History of Race in Post-Civil Rights America,» the exhibition features art from the Cantor collection, selections from the Stanford Institute for Diversity in the Arts, as well as loaned works.

There are also documentary photographs and other archival ephemera, books printed on campus by BMC poets and sound works of readings, and a stage and piano for performances to take place regularly during the run of the exhibition.

Yossi Milo Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of South African artist Pieter Hugo's most recent body of work, 1994, on view from January 26 — March 11, with a reception for the artist and book signing on Thursday, January 26 from 6:00 — 8:00 pm.

The exhibition will include hundreds of photographic works, along with additional materials including books, ephemera and objects - created by the artist in many formats and mediums of photography, allowing the viewers for a fuller understanding of the diversity of his output.
