I would say to any person commenting

book first (its not an expensive purchase) before launching into any detailed discussion or disagreement.It answers many of the potential concerns people have and gets the reader to reflect very strongly
on what they have been taught about the atonement and to put
on a new set of glasses when reading
scripture.
While I do not consider myself an expert
on all the religious writings of all of the main religions in the world, I have read most of the main religious texts for most of the main world religions, and while it is not uncommon to find violent events being described in these other religious
books, no other set of religious writings comes even close to describing the violence and bloodshed that one finds within the pages of the Hebrew
Scriptures.
In the graciousness of the
book (something often lacking when people engage Emergent, no names but...), in its passionate for the
Scriptures, in its understanding that true faith shows itself in love, in its acceptance of the many things postmodernism has going for it without capitulating to todays culture, and especially in the willingness to both take
on and unite both sides, Wittmer has written something here to be commended for, and something that all believers no matter what side they lean toward would do well to read.

book that would combine the old covenant
scriptures with the account of His life
on earth and letters that were written to people who lived under the law, that people who have never lived under the law would have to try to discern and apply to their lives until He returned, or they died.
I think that every Bible should have a big «STOP» sign
on the first page along with that passage of
scripture letting the reader (or potential reader) know that this
book is not for everybody, but only for those that have been enabled by God to read and understand it.

books by spiritual giants such as Tozer, Ravenhill, Finney, Spurgeon, Chambers, etc... reading and listening to such teachers as Winkie Pratney, Ravi Zacharias, etc... and just trying to read the
scriptures and asking God to guide me
on a right path.
Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, the heavens, and other elements of the world... Now it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an unbeliever to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy
Scripture, talking nonsense
on these topics... How are they going to believe these
books in matters concerning the resurrection of the dead, the hope of eternal life, and the kingdom of heaven?

This
book does not address
Scripture, but it sheds important light
on the cultural norms and practices that would have shaped early Christians» understandings of same - sex sexuality.
The
book does not so much explain the various prophetic texts in
Scripture, as provide a framework to read and study it
on our own.
Think whatever you want about George R. R. Martin and his
books,
Scripture agrees with him
on this one.

The
book of Jude calls people who pervert the
scriptures heretics and false teachers, Romans 6:1 - 2 calls people who turn from God's grace inmoral, and God constantly calls
on to people to come to the light.
My constant purpose was and is to adumbrate
