SAN DIEGO — U.S. Customs and
Border Protection on Tuesday began testing the use of body cameras
by its employees at nine locations, potentially leading to a broad rollout
by the nation's largest
law enforcement agency that would make it the first federal
agency to use the devices on a large scale.
Cyber crime ignores
borders by its nature, and fighting it requires an unusually high level of cooperation between the companies under attack, the private security firms they hire for protection and investigations, and the
law enforcement agencies in multiple countries that try to track hackers down.
The implementation of this national policy is consistent with the approach taken
by other
law enforcement organizations as well as other federal
agencies and departments, such as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Customs
Border Services
Agency (CBSA).
