This pen is integrated into
the bottom back of the tablet, just like on a Samsung tablet.

The Nexus 10's front - facing stereo speakers are an improvement on
tablet speakers that point out the
back or
bottom of a
tablet, designs that put the speakers at grave risk
of being covered by my hands as I hold it.
In keeping with other Honeycomb
tablets, the
bottom of the screen displays a persistent system bar with software keys for
Back, Home, and Recent Applications — all
of which look like futuristic line drawings.
There are also some design changes meted out to the
tablet, apart from the gunmetal colored
back panel with a brushed metal finish, the new Galaxy Tab Plus also carries two plastic strips at the top and
bottom edge
of the
tablet.
So many
tablets these days are shipped with speakers on the
bottom of the device and presents many challenges when having it lay flat on its
back.
The built - in dual stereo speakers are situated on the
back of the
tablet toward the
bottom, and they're optimized for holding the
tablet in portrait mode.

The Acer Iconia Tab A200 has stereo speakers nestled in the
bottom corners on the
back of the
tablet and, providing you aren't holding the
tablet there, the sound is clear, if a little tinny.
As always you can flick between front and rear cameras mid-call, while the single mono speaker — although not exactly high - fidelity — is reasonably loud and, by virtue
of its positioning slightly further up the
back of the
tablet rather than on the
bottom edge, isn't so prone to being blocked or covered as on the first - gen iPad.
The
back of the
tablet part is extremely glossy, the keyboard surround is faux brushed metal and the
bottom of the keyboard bit is soft - touch matt plastic.
The small holes on the
back always remind me
of leather racing gloves from the 60s, even then the great Nexus (and the lesser
of ASUS at the
bottom) lettering stands out nicely and pops me out
of my dream bubble and reminds me that I am here with a
tablet in my hands that I was waiting for since beginning
of the year.
Although there's virtually no empty black space at the top
of the
tablet, there's a wider ledge on its
bottom half, which wraps around onto the
back of the device.
It's a slit that runs roughly two - thirds
of the way across the
back, centered and sitting about a half - inch above the
bottom — which is, by the way, where you'll find the
tablet's only ports.
At least putting the
tablet back into the keyboard case is easier: You just drop the
tablet into the
bottom of the frame and it pops in easily at the top with some pressure from your thumbs.
On the front
of the
tablet along the
bottom you have the exact same buttons as most Samsung mobile devices, the home,
back and recent apps buttons.
The leaked press images showcase a
tablet with a textured
back panel, sporting the company logo branding on the
bottom of the front panel.
Although there's virtually no empty black space at the top
of the
tablet, there's a wider ledge on its
bottom half, which wraps around onto the
back of the device.
It brings new emoji, brings
back an old do not disturb mode from Android 5.1, and a new
bottom bar for
tablets that moves the onscreen buttons to the sides
of the screen.
The rear camera is also found at the
bottom of the
back of the
tablet, once again on the barrel, a placement that is somewhat awkward.
Asus worked out its own subtle
tablet style a few years ago, and even though this is a bargain basement
tablet, the Asus ZenPad 10 Z300M tries to look premium, with a
back that mostly tries to look like leather, while the
bottom section gives the appearance
of aluminum.
The
back top
of the
tablet felt hot when I used it for a long time, but the
bottom portion where I was actually holding it stayed cool.
There is a brushed metallic finish throughout the
back, bordered by a shiny metallic edge that gives the
tablet a nice elegant look, but helping with the grip is a soft, leathery material that used along the
bottom of the
tablet when holding it in the landscape orientation, which feels really nice, and prevents the
tablet from easily slipping from your hand.

bottom of the
tablet's
back in the diagram, as well as a rear - facing camera in the top left corner
of the device.
