The price point in the
early days, at least, was a bit cheaper than
buying printed
copies of books.
In terms of goodies
bought here at home recently, I was pleasantly surprised to find an
early copy of Osamu Tezuka's The Book of Human Insects.
Profitable dates are those in the two or three weeks before these occasions, and the same applies to Christmas for any book;
early December is the time people are
buying, especially children's books and print
copies of anything.
They wouldn't waste all of their programming on games that barely sold any
copies or were successful on a very small installbase, they want to bring those games to the masses, even if it costs betraying most of the
early adopters... Who cares if the 2 or 3 million people who
bought Splatoon feel bad, when there are around 7 million people who can be pleased by a por of a game they haven't even heard of.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, released
earlier in July and August for Xbox 360 and PlayStation, is now available on Steam for $ 9.99, and anyone who
buys a
copy this month gets an additional 10 % off.
If just 1/3 of the people
bought multiple
copies, the if player base is effectively the same size as for Kakusei, since most people who played
earlier titles didn't pick up multiple
copies.
And happy is the consumer who, after already purchasing the
early access edition of the game, can
buy the collector's edition without having to
buy a second
copy of the title.
I
bought a
copy on ebay a while ago but the game froze
early on so I never got around finishing it.

copies early.

Aaron Street: I agree that the instinct of
buying something and then making a profit from your clients can feel a little icky in the same way that in the days of
early copy machines when you had to pay 10 or 20 cents per
copy, felt really weird and gross and inappropriate even though, of course, it was allowed.
Remember that other students are thinking the same thing, so
buy your books as
early as possible before used
copies get sold out.
Early last year, I
bought a
copy of the second season of The X-Files to binge on with the kids during the school holidays.
