I buy golden flax seeds at my health store co-op and grind them in a coffee grinder.

You can purchase entire the whole
golden flax seeds which you will need to grind when you use it, or you can
buy the flaxseed meal which already comes ground and ready to use.
I also could not find
golden flax, so I just
bought the ground
flax they sell at whole foods.
I added 2 packets of stevia, couldn't find hemp hearts locally but added some
golden flax seeds that I
bought by accident instead and some protein powder.
Best is to
buy whole (
golden)
flax seeds and grind them yourself (this ensuring the delicate fats don't go rancid).
I
bought a bag of whole
golden flax seed at Trader Joe's for $ 2.99, and after making this recipe, had about 1/3 of the bag left.
Then when I re-read your recipe I noted it called for «
Golden»
Flax seed meal, and I had
bought the non-
golden one apprently.
You can
buy the whole
flax seed (
golden or brown) and grind them yourself in a little coffee grinder (sans coffee) or a Magic or NutriBullet.
The light (
golden)
flax seeds are more expensive, so save your money (unless, of course, you really need the lighter variety for some reason) and
buy the dark variety.
