But the team is wary of upsetting the lander, which came to rest in a precarious position on its side in November after
bouncing around the comet in its microgravity environment.
As the
comet traveled across the system, it was deflected by the planets, like a ball
bouncing around in a pinball machine, until Jupiter's gravity set its current orbit, Jewitt said.
