They look great but are
brachycephalic so have several serious health conditions associated with their breathing; more importantly they have abnormal pelvic structure and since the puppies heads are so large they often have trouble whelping; over 80 % of English Bulldogs require c - sections.

The damage in the breed's creation was done over a century ago
so to pass a law preventing the breeding of any
brachycephalic dogs (and there are people who do want that law) and completely ending the breed in some places (ironically more likely to happen in England than the United States) would be a tremendous loss to many who love it.
This causes the gurgling and gagging seen in
so many
brachycephalics, and can cause a lack of oxygen in the bloodstream that turns the gums blue on occasion.
One of the downsides to traditional slow feeders is that they aren't always accommodating for
