Stages are lengthy and labyrinthine in nature thanks to
branching paths hiding collectibles and chests.

path is expected to start at Royce Road and Concord Lane, follow the East
Branch of the Du Page River and end at
Hidden Lakes Historic Trout Farm.
On top of all this, some stages have multiple exits to unlock
branching paths, and it wouldn't be a true Donkey Kong Country game if there weren't some
hidden worlds.
This is when you discover that underneath the action - platfomer there was actually a metroidvania
hiding the entire time with multiple
branching paths to explore.

Even though game is roughly 5 hours, it nearly took me that long to learn the new controls... luckily there are plenty of

hidden bosses, medals for replay value, and frankly there is no way you'll unlock all the missions with the first completion of the game.
Later levels include

hidden areas with «Lingerie Tokens», «Chestguards» and «Secret Missions»; one chapter in particular has a completely optional indoor palace to explore, filled with strong enemies and a figurative pool of experience points and items.
Other than some
branching paths,
hidden enclaves and the occasional need for backtracking, they're usually linear too, with the focus solely on beating stuff up.
