Now that the summer of slumps is behind us, it's time to get into the
more serious fall
movies that will
bring powerful performances and, perhaps, some Oscar gold.
AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron recently floated an idea to Variety to
bring more people, especially those ever elusive millennials, into his theaters: allowing the use of smartphones during
movies.
It was fun to see a modern - day interpretation of a silent film, but it didn't
bring much
more to the table than that gimmick, and it doesn't hold a special place as a memorable and impactful
movie the way its fellow nominees «The Tree of Life,» «Midnight in Paris,» and «Moneyball» do.

movie Deadpool had the biggest opening weekend for an R - Rated
movie in American box office history, and

more than $ 260 million globally.

As much as I hate [the
movie] Minority Report, it had some impact on people realizing that there's
more to computing that simply doing one thing at a time, you can
bring your other hand around and use that too.

brings so much weight to a safe drama that never takes risks and prefers the easy way with clichés, dreams and silly hallucinations that would befit
more a
movie made for TV.
The coming 12 months should
bring not one, not two, but three Bill Murray
movies, and none features
more of the actor than Hyde Park on Hudson, in which he stars as Franklin Delano Roosevelt (and certainly looks the part).
With any luck, the endearingly wooden Dornan will have better performances ahead of him, while Johnson, whose radiant intelligence and tremulous sensitivity have
brought more shades to this story than anyone could have dreamed, will surely have better
movies.
The director of Glengarry Glen Ross and other «men's
movies», I hoped Foley would
bring a bit
more added toughness to the franchise.
Hudd devoted a great deal of effort to

movie, great cast, and keep

more sequels.

more curious entries at this year's fest will be director Roland Emmerich — THE disaster
movie expert —

Movie did a good job of

more — and it's producer would like to do the same thing again with Nintendo.

brings that same level of intensity, it's a much
more restrained and calculated brand of horror that builds tension through silence — and because so much of the
movie is quiet, everything else feels like a punch in the gut.
At the time, many of us knew nothing about the director other than the fact that he'd made a monster
movie that was
more than a monster
movie but since then, he's become a recognizable name (at least among film fans) and the announcement of a new project
brought much joy to my heart.
The dark, nasty tone that hangs over every scene feels somewhat dully exhausting from quite early on and Wells seems to deflect any desire to
bring a
more cinematic sensibility to the picture, so a great
movie August: Osage County is not.
It goes without saying that The Cloverfield Paradox is destined to be remembered
more for its potentially game - changing «ambush release» than anything the
movie itself actually
brings to the table.
Still, it's a bit of a tall order to expect families to shell out
movie - theater dollars for such material barely a step above generic and forgettable, especially for a formula we're experiencing for the fourth time around, so without

Little Accidents is very low - key, focusing

more high - energy «WE HAVE TO
BRING THE GUILTY PARTIES TO JUSTICE!!!!!!» tone that another
movie might have gone with.
Tully is a Young Adult reunion,
bringing back writer Diablo Cody (Juno), director Jason Reitman (Up in the Air), and star Charlize Theron (Atomic Blonde), and for people without kids, it can feel
more like a horror
movie.
That said, when vehical combat is
more realisitic and helicopters hover above head while raining bullets at charging infantry, the combat is fantastic (
bringing to mind Black Hawk Down - the
movie).
As a romantic comedy, it obeys none of the traditional edicts of the genre; as a character study, it
brings delirious depth to its subject; and as an Adam Sandler
movie, it shows
more intelligence and snap than we could have ever imagined.
Depp really
brings him to life and makes him one of the
more memorable characters at the
movies this year.
The mode of blockbuster filmmaking in America typically involves cross-developing a handful of storylines, then
bringing them all back together for the
movie's climax, thus allowing the
movie to cross-cut between those storylines at a
more and
more frantic pace, until the final showdown is freely leaping among them.
A special award went to Adrienne Mancia, who, as a curator at New York's Museum of Modern Art for
more than 30 years, «helped shape the
movie - going tastes of New Yorkers by
bringing the work of filmmakers like Bernardo Bertolucci, Manoel De Oliveira and Marco Bellocchio to the United States.»
Then there's Gary Busey, who I would say gives one of the best performances in the
movie,
bringing substance to his role,
more so than just his manic persona.
Next month

movies to Netflix, including Pixar's latest, a misunderstood Ryan Gosling
movie, a superior superhero sequel, a Bourne
movie, and
more.
Martin, who was trying too hard in his first «Pink Panther»
movie, seems
more relaxed - doing less of a Peter Sellers imitation and
bringing his own stylings into the role.

In hindsight, it's understandable how passionate he is with the project considering that it took him
