Halo Wars, Robot Entertainment this year gave us the perfect blend of high quality game mechanics at a budget price.
With news hitting just yesterday of Microsoft hitting striking a marketing deal to
bring the PC version of
Halo Wars 2 to brick and mortar stores, it's time to gear up for the game's final testing phase.
Overall, this Definitive Edition does a great job of
bringing the original
Halo Wars to modern consoles as it definitely doesn't feel like an eight year old game.
In the news — colors from Nintendo, Shadow Complex superiority, God of
War Collection announcement, GTA: Chinatown
Wars getting a new home,
Halo 3: ODST, Batman: Arkham Asylum, GTA V, and much more are
brought to light in the Cheat Code Central Podcast.
Just as with
Halo i have no reason to buy Gears of
War now its not being made by those that
brought the game to the table in the first place.
For whatever reason
Halo Wars 2 was sadly overlooked and it was a great effort to
bring back the RTS genre.
But with Microsoft's commitment to the Play Anywhere premise — of its games launching and linking up across PC and Xbox One seamlessly —
Halo Wars 2 feels like a good starting point for
bringing the Chief's universe back to desktops, and in a way that could succeed where other experiments like twin - stick disappointments Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike have previously failed.
All of this is to say that The Creative Assembly doesn't seem to be
bringing enough of its pedigree to
Halo Wars 2.
Were
Halo Wars 2 simply coming to console, these omissions may have gone overlooked, but with Creative Assembly
bringing the title to Windows 10 we have the uncomfortable feeling that it won't be substantial enough for many PC players to sink their teeth into and far too simple to hold attention of some erratic console gamers.
