periods of sustained conflict with other ruling classes, notably the War of the Spanish Succession of 1700 — 1715 and the Seven Years War of 1756 — 1763, the predatory
policies of the Whigs resulted in overtaxation and overstrain of the economy
during which the Tories would rise in influence in order to
bring the war to an end.
Speaking at the second edition of the National
Policy Summit (NPS) under the aegis of the Trade and Industry Ministry under the theme, «The Industrial Transformation of Ghana,» in Accra yesterday, he noted that
during the
period, «a significant number of small, medium and large scale operators were all
brought to their knees as a result of four years of «dumsor» (intermittent power supply), induced by the mismanagement of the energy sector.»
