Make you a deal... throw out four of them: 1 «I am the Lord your God, who
brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
The covenant at Sinai also begins with a brief historical introduction («I am the Lord your God who
brought you out of the land of Egypt») whose explicit purpose is to document God's gracious intentions toward Israel and to engender Israel's desire to be a faithful servant who would love her lord above all other competitors.

But there is nothing surprising in this, for the O.T. itself spoke of a new covenant: «Behold the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers when took them by the hand to
bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke, though I was their husband, says the Lord.
This is clearly seen in the introduction to the Decalogue, «I am YHWH your God, who
brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage».
22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them, when
I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices.
10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the Lord thy God, which

Yet consider Jeremiah's formulation of this promise of the new covenant as a covenant which can not be broken: «not like the covenant which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to
bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke.»

I am an non theist and I do believe in god
of sorts... I believe there is a force that has created the universe or that is the universe itself... BUT!!!! Believing god chatted with people thousands
of years ago and told them to
