build and enhance the capacity of school staff and teachers use
equity to engage all families, regardless of their
racial or ethnic identity, educational background, gender, disability, or socioeconomic status.
For me, Valeria, it took a few years to
build a solid team of courageous leaders who were faithful to the district's goal of achieving
racial equity, who were working for kids no matter what.

Michelle is also on the faculty of
BUILD's
Equity Leader's Action Network working with leaders from across the country acting on specific
racial inequities in state early childhood systems — in early learning, health, mental health, nutrition, and family support — and especially at the intersection of these systems.
About a month ago, I talked at the Neighborhood House annual meeting about our strong relationship with the agency and the important link between its programs and Thrive's efforts to
build strong statewide home visiting programs and advance
racial equity in early learning.
BUILD's broad set of resources provide significant information on state and community strategies to advance the quality of early childhood systems components and to promote
racial equity, cross-systems alignment and integration.
