But castile soaps CAN cause
a buildup on your diapers.
If you've been cloth diapering for a while, then you're familiar with the problem of
buildup on your diapers.
Those that are not recommended will cause
buildup on your diapers and will cause them to lose absorbency and leak.
I JUST got attacked on the Cloth Diaper Compendium for having the audacity to suggest that someone had detergent
buildup on their diapers.
Castille soap may leave a residue on these products causing detergent
buildup on your diapers; this will prevent them from absorbing properly.
Not exact matches
- If you have ammonia
buildup (ie they always smell funky, are much less absorbent, and / or baby gets something that looks like a burn
on their heiny) try stripping the
diapers (do a quick google search to decide what's best for you.)
Detergent
buildup from insufficient rinsing,
buildup from other products such as dryer sheets or fabric softeners, mineral film from water, and creams that you use
on your baby can all combine to create a smelly
diaper situation that persists even after washing.
Used these
on my
diapers when having problems with my water (hot water heater problems caused mineral
buildup then mild stink issues).
When your cloth
diapers are repelling this means that the stay dry liner inside your pocket
diaper is not allowing moisture to pass through into the absorbent core and if your inserts have
buildup on them as well then it's a double whammy.
A
buildup of detergent and / or residual bacteria
on cloth
diapers can create an ammonia like odor and reduce the absorbency of the
diaper, so if either of these are occurring, you should strip wash your cloth
diapers to return them to optimal absorbency.
For inserts with cloth
diaper cream
buildup, focus
on scrubbing the area with blue Dawn dish soap.
... Please DO NOT ever wash
diapers with Dawn dish soap, not only does it do nothing to remove bacteria or
buildup from hard water minerals, it will void your warrenty
on the washing machine and most likely break the machine due to all the suds it produces...
