In May 1968, she participated in the Poor People's Campaign in Washington D.C., during which she started photographing Resurrection City,
built by the protestors on the Washington Mall.
Protestors, their friends and reporters for various financial media were asked several times
by staff and security to step off the
building's premises, and stand only on the public street.
