This lets you slow down time and works well during the
bullet hell segments when the
enemies is shooting a metric ton of
bullets at you from almost every direction.
Enemies also felt like
bullet sponges
at times too, especially when using the submachine gun.
There are times when the amount of
enemies thrown
at you will seem unfair, and the Mouse Commanders will eat up a ton of
bullets before dying.
Many of the games map have multiple routes and open areas where the fighting takes place, and this is when it's
at its best; defeating the
enemy requires some genuine driving skill as missiles and barrages of
bullets come your way.
When you do, instead of moving quickly everything goes into a slow motion,
bullet time where you can shoot a lot of shots off
at enemies as you slide across the gap between pieces of cover.
The
enemies are just cannon fodder; bereft of any real stimulating A.I behaviours, and only serve to be shot
at without offering any real challenge, with the exception of the shotgunners who just run
at you with sponging

I Am Alive's hero also can't shoot an endless number of
bullets, because he often only has one or two in his weapon's chamber
at a time... and if an
enemy hears the click click click of that empty clip, he'll rush and kill you instantly.
