While 2.37 percent per year may not sound like a
large amount of money, over several decades this increasingly compounding fee
burden can reduce a consumer's retirement nest egg
by half if not more.
Anthony Isaacs, president of the SDT, says a considerable
burden had been placed on the tribunal over the past year, due to the length and complexity of a substantial number of cases that involved a
large amount of documentary evidence, with the majority of the weight being felt
by clerks.
