Through her experience in the different
aspects of the
game industry, Kimberly has gained tremendous insight into the platform and
games as a service structure as seen by developers and publishers, having been involved with everything that makes publishing an online
game possible:
business development, licensing, QA, customer support.
There are an increasing number
of game conferences these days — gatherings about particular
aspects of game business,
game development,
game scholarship.
All
aspects of establishing and operating a
games business, including advice on: creating a new
business; hiring staff; creating and protecting new IP; commercial exploitation including
development / publishing / distribution / licensing matters; corporate / finance matters; and managing
games regulation like age ratings, F2P compliance and platform rules.
It depended on an improvised «holistic»
development process, where different
aspects of the
game had to be worked on nearly simultaneously, by a single person: programming,
game design, art, sound, music, promotion and eventually
business development.
Besides this, I feel like I've gotten valuable first - hand experience
of the
business and technical
aspects of game development for the 3DS, which wasn't possible for me before, being an indie mobile developer.
I expect the course to be released in the next few months, covering everything from the legal
aspects of game development to marketing and sustaining your
business.

business and technical
aspects of game development, to encourage all
of us to think more deeply about the real impact
of the
games we create — and how we create them — on our world.
