I flipped the pages in my brain's (limited) cocktail catalog, and settled on the Buttered Rum Cocktail.

Looking at the recipe for buttered rum, I sort of merged it with the chocolate cake base, and heated it all together on the stove top, afraid I would mess it up with every step.

However, it has the maple flavor that I need to add to certain winter cocktails (hot buttered rum, replacing some of the dark brown sugar with this) and to tea.
