Giving away free or selling inexpensive copies is not expected just because... it's a tactic for getting exposure with the understanding that some
of these copies will lead to
book reviews, which
in turn helps get
more exposure and entree into certain marketing programs and options, and which helps prompt actual purchases as many readers are hesitant about
buying a
book by an unknown, unreviewed author.

Selling your own ebooks means that you can have
more than one publisher — say, a UK and a US one — and sell on behalf
of both
of them, meaning that readers anywhere

books, and the author takes care
of figuring out which publisher gets the payment from that purchase.
(cont'd)- I'm giving away hundreds

of doing so, won't see one thin dime

On one front, this is essential material for the first - time author pursuing a traditional publishing deal, as publishers are well known for sticking quite rigidly to genre requirements, for the purposes
of selling their products (our
books) to the even
more hide - bound
book shops, who aren't interested
in buying a
book unless they know where to shelve it.
Whether or not people
buy my courses or products, there are LOTS
of other things I could recommend to increase subscriber value with affiliate offers — I can teach them how to set up a website, how to run ads and do keyword research, how to get
more book reviews or
book editing — etc., and recommend the products and services I use
in my own
book marketing.
My kindle is different though, and is a black hole
in a different way — it's TBR is tiny and so what I find happening is that, despite having a mountain
of physical
books to get through, I end up having to
buy an ebook because I'm all out and need one on there for the times when it's
more convenient to read on my kindle (sitting at my local restaurant so no one will bug me and ask what i'm reading)
Better rankings (so you appear on
more «you might also like» «customers also
bought» lists), better visibility (often the free downloads will help sales
of other
books as well as get you reviews) and higher sales (the majority
of people do see a huge jump
in sales once the
book goes back to paid).
