The problem I often run into whenever
I buy fresh basil is their shelf life.
Perfect timing as I just
bought fresh basil at the Farmer's Market.

After years of
buying those expensive little packets of
fresh basil, I was thrilled to have my own plants this summer.
Making a batch of homemade hummus is seriously a cinch, and having
basil from the garden definitely gives it a
fresh flavor you just can't achieve with store
bought varieties.
I will I said BUT MY WIFE SAID THOSE WERE HERS and I could eat the other tomatoes So I watch her eat them with
fresh sliced mozzarella that I
bought, some
fresh basil and some Italian salad dressing!!!
Stir in 2 cups homemade or store -
bought ricotta and 1/4 cup shredded
fresh basil.

This is delicious and elegant Made this tonight - I got a bunch of
fresh basil in my farm shares and some native tomato - so I went and
bought 2 pieces of Wild King salmon (very expensive, yikes!)

basil (no local

The sauce is made of a simple combination of olive oil, cherry tomatoes,
fresh basil and Italian seasonings, so there isn't any added sugar or salt that you often find in store -
bought sauces.

The only problem is that being nowhere near
basil season in my garden, I was going to have to
buy a bunch of
fresh basil with a bit of a price tag.
Suppose one wants to use
fresh basil, instead of
buying it in a plastic bag at the supermarket?
8 ounces of elbow macaroni (check your box, because mine was 12 ounces), or your favorite shaped pasta 2 ounces of sundried tomatoes (if dried: soak in hot water till tender, and slice; but you may find them chopped in oil, which is delicious and with no need to soak)
Fresh diced onion to taste, sauteed in olive oil, or I used dried minced onion 1 clove of garlic, chopped (I always
buy the jarred chopped garlic from the produce section) 1 pound of ground beef, browned (I cook mine in bulk ahead of time in the crockpot) 12 ounces of tomato sauce (if you have leftover pasta sauce, I would use that) 1 teaspoon of dried
basil Salt and pepper to taste

fresh basil available, store -
