While store - bought peanut butter cups have plenty of added refined sugars, processed milk products, and chemical preservatives — this recipe is made from just three ingredients — dark chocolate, pure peanut butter, and a touch of salt.
I also like buying Kerrygold at Costco, but I can only ever get the salted butter there.
I used salted butter because that it what we usually buy, but I think that you could use either one with no problem.
