The final artworks were carefully selected for the
exhibition by a panel of judges including Yinka Shonibare MBE, Shape Open Prize Winner 2014 Carly Jayne, Shape Chief Executive Tony Heaton OBE and Open
coordinator Ben Fredericks.
Under the direction of Dr. Margaret Lindauer, VCU associate professor and
coordinator of museum studies, the
exhibition and accompanying catalogue essay were developed during a fall 2011 seminar
by graduate students Andrea Alvarez, Grace Astrove, Kristie Couser, Elizabeth Fuqua, and Meredith Hertel.
The
exhibition will be accompanied
by a full - colour, illustrated catalogue that will contain essays
by the
exhibition's curator Eimear O'Raw, Curatorial
