Inspired
by students from the targeted Florida high school, as many as 500,000 people are expected to rally against
gun violence and in favor of stricter
gun laws on March 24 in Washington, D.C., with sister marches taking place in cities
across the world.
The work should begin «

by assessing existing public health interventions being implemented
across the Nation to prevent
gun violence,» the president's memo states.

By Barney Blakeney Since the February 14 mass murder at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, students
across America have staged protests calling for changes that would protect them from further
gun violence.
They were joined
by fellow members of «The Mass Shooting Generation» from
across the country, some as young as 11, who also lost friends and loved ones to
gun violence.
Led
by the mourning but mobilized students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, young people will protest
gun violence at March for Our Lives demonstrations in Washington, D.C., Parkland and
across the nation on Saturday.
«Since Congress has failed the American people
by ignoring the deadly scourge of
gun violence, since we have failed the families of Stoneman Douglas just like we failed the families of Sandy Hook and Columbine and so many others, we owe it to students and teachers
across the country to at least give them tools to help them identify dangerous behavior,» he said.
WASHINGTON - Summoned
by high school students swept up in school
violence, thousands swarmed into the nation's capital and cities
across America on Saturday to march for
gun control and ignite political activism among the young.
Thousands of students marched in demonstrations against
gun violence across Connecticut as part of a nationwide movement inspired
by high school students in Parkland, Florida.
Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri attended marches
across the state to stand in solidarity with students and all communities impacted
by gun violence.
