Amongst these additions, an Etruscan mirror with a line drawing of a running Sun god sets up a dialogue with Picasso's engraved line; the etching of the artist drawing the model
by Rembrandt establishes how much Picasso learnt and was inspired
by the
old master; and a beautifully austere bust of the head of Hercules from the villa of the Emperor Hadrian is a wonderful counterpoint to the
prints of the sculptor and model.
Among the treasures in Driskell's collection are
old master and modern European
prints, antique rugs, African sculpture, and works
by African American
masters from the 19th century through the present.
Other works relate to the teaching of students in the Royal Academy Schools and include
prints from the Renaissance onwards, plaster casts of Antique sculpture, copies of
Old Master paintings and the only marble
by Michelangelo in the UK.

by da Vinci, Fragonard, Rubens, Titian, and Van Gogh and overlaid with the respective artist's name — e.g., «DA VINCI» — in bling - y metallic lettering.
Notable holdings include the Warburg Collection of
Old Master prints, an important group of Hudson River School paintings given
by Matthew Vassar at the college's inception, and a wide range of works
by major European and American 20th - century painters.

by a fully illustrated catalogue with essays

In addition it includes oils
