by the editors (or the marketers) of Big Publishing Houses, that have sold quite well thru amazon and
other e-tailers, in some cases netting them six figures a year.
I could probably come up with at least 10 major benefits of running an Amazon book launch campaign, including how it helps you sell more books long after the bestseller campaign is over, to getting approached
by foreign publishers looking to do editions of your book in
other languages (this has happened to several indie
authors I
know, after they hit the bestseller lists on Amazon).
Some
authors I
know swear
by it;
others barely touch it.
Foreword: The foreword contains a statement about the book and is written
by someone
other than the
author who is an expert or is widely
known in the field of the book's topic.
Whether StoryBundle still accepts submissions (the answer is yes, but many of their collections are curated

know other authors)
I
know this post is long past
by now... but I felt I needed to come back after recent experiences reading / talking to
other indie
authors in my genre and let you
know that I now, unfortunately, see what you're saying.
I don't
know for sure that
authors would be penalized
by Amazon for having book - buying links to booksellers
other than Amazon on their home pages if they catch Amazon's attention — say,
by having a bestselling book.
I
know several indie
authors who subsequently got picked up
by publishers, who repackaged and rereleased their earlier self - pubbed novels — LJ Sellers and Andrew E. Kaufman, for instance, 2 of my teammates on the Crime Fiction Collective blog, and I
know of
others.
Even then, you don't
know if
other factors are influencing sales as well — factors that might include strong support among independent retailers
known for hand - selling books they like or a viral marketing campaign started not
by the publisher or
author but
by a fan.
