A loose assemblage of movie villains straight out of central casting (including the baby - faced one who might have a change of heart and the total maniac who seems in it just to kill people, played

stealing Richard Cabral), there's no honor among thieves, and there's even less logic.
Bill, meanwhile, who, in an early

by Sookie from «drainers» — rogue humans who
steal vampires» blood for its notorious sensory - and libido - enhancing properties (and, naturally, its black - market value)-- is eager to settle down in sleepy Bon Temps, and may get the welcome mat if Sookie's kind grandmother (Lois Smith) can get her Civil War society to accept a real (if not technically «alive») veteran of that conflict speaking at one of their functions.
His is an extraordinary performance, as Pete Hammond raved, and he's backed
by support from Tatiana Maslany, beautifully affecting as Bauman's girlfriend Erin, and Miranda Richardson, who
steals scenes as his mom Patty.
Mind you, it has other good things going for it, too — a taut, intelligent and cleverly structured screenplay
by Anthony McCarten, who brought us The Theory Of Everything, top - drawer direction from Joe Wright, whose 2007 wartime drama, Atonement, comes repeatedly to mind, and a

stealing but exquisitely judged supporting performance from Kristin Scott Thomas as Clementine Churchill.
How this all happens is absolutely fascinating, beginning with the arrival of the FBI and Special Agent Richard DesLauriers (Kevin Bacon), who uses a warehouse to re-create entire city streets and the crime
scene; Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), who runs the show with nerves of steel; Sgt. Jeffrey Pugliese (JK Simmons), the Watertown cop who finds himself in the middle of a shootout with the culprits; Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (Michael Beach); Dun Meng (an excellent and
scene -
stealing Jimmy O. Yang), the young Chinese man who was carjacked and kidnapped
by the pair, only to turn the tables on them; and of course the Tsarnaev brothers, Tamerlan (Themo Meilikidze) and the younger Dzhokhar (Alex Wolff), who both look and act so eerily like the real thing it is positively chilling to watch them.
Tim's weekend is filled with more interesting characters (Rockwell's in particular is a
scene -
stealing disaster of a man child, while Larson is absolutely lovely) and the more obviously enticing hook, with the dig constantly a topic at hand, but slowly Lee's story benefits from a slower, more delicate burn that is highlighted
by a thoughtful performance from Rosemarie DeWitt.
Another saving grace for the film is it's quirky sense of humor, especially showcased in the
scene stealing performance of Mrs Kehoe
by Julie Walters.
Even with these comedic gags in place, nearly every
scene that included agent Ford (Jason Statham) was unceremoniously
stolen by him.
