A new report «Mapping REDD + and Land Use Financial Flows in Brazil»
by research organizations Forest Trends and IDESAM shows how over US$ 2.2 billion in REDD + funds have been used
by Brazil to implement deforestation policies, and highlights new ways to make these investments more effective at reducing emissions, including
by making payments directly available to the stakeholders who are implementing the deforestation policies such as
subnational governments, farmers, local communities and indigenous Peoples of the Amazon.

Local and
subnational governments were brought onto this new platform
by C40, ICLEI and the Under2 Coalition.
CCC's Sandee Recabar expounded on climate policies for local
governments and the role of the Commission in support of them, as well as gave examples of
subnational contributions given emerging directions of nationally determined contributions or efforts
by each country to reduce national emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
By 2017: We are calling for structured dialogues between local and
subnational governments, the urban resilience community and national and international partners through global processes.
The day kicked off with a closed session of
subnational government Ministers and representatives, meeting on behalf of the states and regions alliance and chaired
by Climate Group CEO Steve Howard.
