waste: solid
waste (fibers, shells and empty fruit bunches); liquid
waste (generated in the oil extraction process); and air emissions (smoke from boilers and
incinerators).
The commercial building industry can greatly reduce
waste going to landfills and
incinerators by targeting two large categories: paper (office paper, paperboard, cardboard) and organics (yard trimmings, food scraps, and wood).
The projects, which include highways passing through protected nature sites,
waste incinerators and airports, are being paid for — or being considered for financial support in the future —
by Cohesion Policy Funds in the current EU budget.
