on the other hand, you're in the unfortunate position of having to book tickets last minute and having to book into Economy Class this
aircraft swap isn't going to be good news for you — with significantly fewer main
Cabin Extra
seats on the 787 - 9 you're likely to find it harder to snag one of the less terrible Economy Class
seats on the
aircraft.
There is no news
on how many rows of Premium Economy we can expect in the larger
aircraft or how many
seats they plan to squeeze in across their
cabins.
To give you an idea how many more
seats will be available
on each flight (and how many
seats each
cabin will now have) here's a comparison between Virgin's Airbus A330 and its Boeing 747
aircraft.
To sum up: I wouldn't pay for the Business Class
cabin, you'd have to pay me to sit in a regular Economy Class
seat leaving Premium Economy as clearly the best option
on the
aircraft.
I have no regrets about booking the British Airways 747 First Class
cabin because it served all the purposes I booked it for — I enjoyed the experience, I now know what BA First Class is like
on this
aircraft and Joanna and I got to fly to Las Vegas in the very front of a 747 — but I won't be hurrying to buy a First Class
seat on a British Airways 747 anytime soon.
American offers a fantastic Business Class
seat on its 777 - 300
aircraft and its Business Class
cabins are considerably less dense than what this diagram shows so United has to offer something of similar stature if it wants to compete.

If you can book a trip
on the Cathay Pacific A350 out of San Francisco you'll have the best Premium Economy
cabin the airline offers — there's more legroom and more
seat width than
on any of Cathay's other
aircraft.

cabin is set out in a 2 -3-2 layout so, if you're traveling as a couple you're definitely better off in the
seats on the side of the
aircraft.

The new QSuites will be fitted to the Airbus A350 - 1000 for which Qatar Airways is the launch customer but we're also going to see a rapid (and much needed) retrofit of these
seats to Qatar's 777 - 300ER
aircraft which currently offer a 2 -2-2
cabin layout that lags significantly behind what the airline already offers
on its 787 Dreamliners, its A380s and its existing A350s.
Virgin Australia has been having issues getting the new
cabins /
seats certified for the 777
aircraft (hence the delay) so travelers
on the 777
aircraft between Australia and the US will have a little bit more waiting to do before they see the new product
on their routes.

One of the biggest differences (from a passenger point of view) between the two
aircraft is the number of Main

It's also worth noting that Virgin Australia offers 32 ″ of leg room and 18.5 ″ of
seat width in its 777 - 300ER Economy Class
cabin compared to Etihad's 31 ″ of leg room and 17.5 ″ of

aircraft on this route.
Another positive is that the refurbished 777 - 200
aircraft come with 45 Main
Cabin Extra
seats which will give passengers an option of
seats with 36 ″ of
seat pitch (leg room)-- 4 ″ more than in the Economy Class

On the negative side the
aircraft swap will see the route go from having 53 premium
cabin seats (16 First Class and 37 Business Class) to just 30 Business Class
seats — not good news for upgrades or awards.
One big advantage that the Dreamliner has is that it offers personal screens for each Economy Class
seat while the antiquated 767 - 300 still inflicts overhead screens
on the entire
cabin — nice for those who like a retro feel to their
aircraft, not so nice for those who like to travel in a little bit of comfort.
Qatar Airways offers a number of different
cabin configurations
on its 777 - 300ER
aircraft and this one came with 42 Business Class
seats — the most you'll see
on this
aircraft.
The excellent
seat width has been achieved by keeping the Premium Economy
cabin on the lower deck of the A380 (where the
aircraft is widest) and by keeping the number of
seats in a row down to just 8 (in a 2 -4-2 layout).
Qantas said details
on the
aircraft's premium economy
cabin won't be released until early next year, but it promised that
cabin will offer «a class leading experience and a revolutionary new
seat.»
Virgin Australia has rolled out the first of its five 777 - 300ERs — the model it uses
on its transpacific service to Los Angeles — to complete a major overhaul, giving the
