FRANKFURT, May 3 (Reuters)- A lobby
group representing Germany's glass fiber
industry says a European merger between Vodafone and Liberty Global should be blocked because it would create a
cable TV monopoly in Germany.
That last part is notable: The stay here comes after several telecom,
cable, and ad
industry groups filed petitions to the FCC to halt the broader set of privacy rules last month.
It's part of a much longer process, naturally, since activists,
industry groups and nonprofits have been working for weeks to make sure that their issues appear in the President's speech in just the «right» way (or not at all), and the spin certainly won't stop tonight (besides the
cable - news and blog analysis, the White House itself will be taking questions online after the speech).
Television
Group is the undisputed
industry leader, providing 32 shows to the five broadcast networks and an overall roster of more than 60 shows among network,
cable, first - run syndication and animation.
The
group, KIDSNET, which is supported by the broadcast and
cable industry, said the information on the label would help children learn better eating habits.

cable industry just sued an Apple - backed
group over the same tactic).
