Think in future I will stick with Mary Berry's Christmas
cake mixture which never fails and won't try this one again.

Put in the oven and bake for about 40 minutes — though give a first check after 30 minutes — by

We were out of vanilla essence, but had plenty of corn - syrup - ladened - pre-mixed icing leftover from the birthday,
which excused a multitude of sins, including not having enough eggs and butter for the
