The following are ingredients that can cause serious clinical signs requiring medical intervention: baclofen, flurbiprofen, diclofenac, ketamine, lidocaine, dibucaine, 5 - fluorouracil,
calcipotriene as well as others.
Vitamin D - 3 can interfere with the function of medications like digoxin, atorvastatin and
calcipotriene.
Excess: Common cause: Ingestion of vitamin D - based rat poison or
calcipotriene (Dovonex ®), a human psoriasis cream.
Vitamin D derivatives like calcitriol (Rocaltrol, Calcijex) and
calcipotriene (Dovonex), used to treat a wide range of human conditions including psoriasis, thyroid problems, and osteoporosis, can cause fatal blood calcium level spikes in your dog or cat.
If you suspect your dog or cat chewed into a tube of psoriasis cream and were exposed to
calcipotriene, call your veterinarian or Pet Poison Helpline immediately for life - saving treatment advice.
