Samsung's quick camera launch feature (previously «double - tap the home button» on the Note series) has moved to the power button, and it's nearly as convenient.
I have to wonder why Samsung didn't offer an option on the S9 to launch Bixby Vision with the button instead (especially because the icon is visible only in Auto mode in the Camera app, and not so easy to find).
On the XZ1, you can immediately launch the camera by pressing the button and use it to capture photos and videos.
When you double - tap the power key to launch the camera, there's a non-zero chance that you'll brush the Bixby button at the same time.
The phone also comes with a quick launch feature where the camera app can be launched via the volume button or even the fingerprint scanner.
You will also find a similar shortcut on Samsung Galaxy S7 by double - tapping the home button, but unlike the Huawei Honor 8 where the shortcut starts the camera app and goes on to capture an image, the Galaxy S7's shortcut only launches the camera app and nothing more.
While the physical button is a nice touch, some unfortunate omissions are the lack of the half press to focus feature as well as the fact that the button can not be used to launch the camera from a sleep state, but is hopefully something that will be addressed and added in a future update.
