cane sugar» what does that mean?
Rum is gluten free, and although it seems a little sweeter to me than tequila (it's made from
sugar cane as opposed to the agave plant that tequila is made from) a little rum every once in awhile will not hurt you:).
Some see it
as a sustainable alternative to
cane sugar, while others say it isn't sustainable at all.
Much of the everyday, ordinary
sugar sold in western Canada is beet
sugar and it is
as refined
as cane sugar and chemically identical.
But since it is now listed
as cane sugar, the public perceives it
as a much more noble product than the prosaic — and absolutely identical —
sugar!
Since the taste of stevia is up to 300 times sweeter than that of
cane sugar, it's best to start out on the conservative side
as you experiment with using it in your recipes.
