In the study of 30 children aged 7 to 18 years undergoing a medical procedure (peripheral blood collection, botulinum toxin injections, or intravenous
cannula insertion), BrightHearts was acceptable to patients, their parents, and their healthcare providers.
From the Charity's perspective we felt that the hospital had taken a bold step by reviewing the policy of
cannula insertion, and making a step - change that is now a prescribed procedure requiring a doctor's authorisation to insert them.
