If you've preferred
cardigans over blazers, it's time to switch teams and discover the zillions of blue jeans outfits you can create for working days or going out.
Sometimes I prefer
a cardigan over a blazer and vice versa.
Not exact matches
I know it is still hot, and you may not want to start layering, but adding a third piece like a
blazer or
cardigan over a more summery dress will definitely help transition it into fall.
I think we're all used to layering pieces
over a little black dress:
cardigans, jackets,
blazers, etc..
I will often wear thin tees or camisoles underneath my dresses or tops and add a
cardigan,
blazer, or jacket
over that layer.
Therefore, it is necessary to wear a
cardigan or
blazer over the dress for the work setting.
Think about lightweight layers, like
blazers over cardigans, or
over tee / blouse.
I would also consider the following: tunic type top with slim, dark jeans or pants; maxi or knee grazing dress with optional shawl,
cardigan, or
blazer on top; a line skirt with structured
cardigan over a layering blouse (you could rock sandals, flats or heels with any of these looks depending on length of your bottom layer).
A lot of times with sleeveless dresses I waste a lot of time trying to decide what
cardigan,
blazer, sweater or top to wear
over or under the dress.
Wear a shirt underneath, wear a
cardigan or sweater
over, or throw on a
blazer.
Tuck a well fitting blouse into it and maybe a
cardigan or
blazer over it and feel gorgeous.
If you want to wear it to work, you can throw a
blazer or a thicker
cardigan over you and take either of those off in the evening when you go out at night.
The exact cut does not matter because you can add a completer piece such as a
cardigan or
blazer over the blouse for business casual settings as required.

over maternity tops and dresses.
I did buy a cheapo wide belt just to play around with it and I found that I can wear it if i belt a shirt and then wear a
blazer or a
cardigan over that it works pretty well!
Investment in a good shawl is also a good idea because it is easy to carry, it can be removed if the temperature increases and it gives a cozy touch and can easily drape
over a
cardigan or
blazer.
On days when it's too chilly to wear just a
blazer and a cute top underneath, but not quite so cool that you're willing to put a jacket
over the adorable outfit you've dreamed up, we have the solution: a lightweight, super-cozy
cardigan that adds warmth without adding bulk.
These overalls fit like a glove and can be worn
over a striped bodysuit (my preference), with a turtleneck, a bold patterned shirt and even with a
cardigan or
blazer!
So give the belts a try — pick up a few cheap options (Forever 21 sells all widths for under $ 5) and layer them
over your
cardigans or under your
blazers.
Then again, you could put a tailored
blazer over this, or perhaps a light
cardigan so only the skirt part shows and all of a sudden this becomes a pretty little work option.
First, if the sleeves are too much for you at work, you can just throw a regular
cardigan or
blazer over it, and it becomes another black top.
Throw
over a longline
cardigan, a
blazer, or basically any jacket of choice.
I would totally throw a
cardigan over this dress in my business casual workplace — maybe a ponte
blazer in winter.
Totally not limited to linen or even a
blazer, but having a
cardigan, light jacket, open button down or whatever to throw
over your outfit once you reach the cubicle is clutch.
Whether it's simply a matter of throwing on a
cardigan,
blazer or coat
over these dresses, they all look equally great on their own or layered!
Throw a
cardigan or a
blazer over the top and you're good to go.
