changing in 2000 +, due to advances in technology (hyperspeed capable missiles pose credible threat to aircraft
carries; space bourne
weapons platforms are somewhat closer to reality than science fiction) and economics (China finally industrialized; developed better economy; and developed, bought and stole enough technology to place it on a better level).
Stellaris: Apocalypse brings awesome
weapons and new challenges to the Stellaris experience, but is also
carried by the massive
changes brought on with the new and free Cherryh update.
The big
change is that instead of forcing players to
carry an array of disposable melee
weapons, the developers have introduced dedicated (and stackable) throwing
weapons, suddenly making the throwing - based character as playable and useful as the rest.
Thanks to
weapons the tides can be
changed and it made races where you are literally fighting to get out of last feel like you have a chance, this even
carried over to multiplayer which is even better then single player.
What I'm pleased did not
change in this game, though, is that you can
carry as many
weapons as are available in the game, and thank goodness.

change depending on the unit type,
carried weapon and opponent
