for a residents» group fighting
construction of a soccer field in Lincoln Park said Latin
School and the Chicago Park District had approached them about settling the
case before it goes to court.
The result was that
school officials were able to pare down the opening bids
for new
school construction from $ 433 to $ 300 per square foot, an important development as the city tried to make the
case to state legislators that it deserved billions of dollars more each year as part of a

school (read: taxpayers) rent that is substantially higher than the going rate / property value, sometimes as high as a million dollars a year.

Other states use a variety — and in some
cases a combination — of different methods, from general fund revenues to sales, property or other special taxes or lottery proceeds to pay
for school construction.
But that wasn't the
case for most K - 12 parcel taxes and
school construction bonds on the ballot Tuesday.
I think that the real issue here is whether there have been some corruption
cases where some officials and
construction builders had some back - door deals that compromised the safety standards
for those collapsed
school buildings and residential apartment buildings.

for surviving family totaling $ 3.5 million in a
case in which a 60 - year - old custodian passed away from mesothelioma complications after spending nearly his entire career working among asbestos - containing compounds in
school construction.
