The beginning sequence in Crisis on the Planet of the Apes does a really good job of pulling the player out of their comfortable living room and into a nightmare world where they,
cast as an ape that has gained intelligence, are viewed with intense hatred and disgust.

as director to tell the story of Caesar, the

cast is entirely new with James Franco stepping out of the lead role that he filled in the first installment.
But Reeves counterbalances a solidly world - weary
cast (including Keri Russell and Kodi Schmitt - McPhee, who,
as Malcolm's frail, indie - comic - reading son, could certainly have been more annoying) against some of the strongest mo - cap effects ever put on screen, allowing Kibbell and Serkis to breathe unmistakable gravity into both Koba's vengeful sadism and Caesar's sad - eyed realization that
apes and humans have more in common than he'd like to admit.

In choosing to explore the standalone
ape society of the series» near future
as it first comes into contact with human survivors, Reeves places his
cast of digitally created primates front and centre in a way that's truly remarkable to watch.
An adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel «The Price Of Salt,» we're in Sirkian melodrama territory here, though likely without the same kind of stylistic
aping as the great «Far From Heaven,» and
as usual, Haynes has rustled up a killer
cast: after their last collaboration on «I'm Not There» won her an Oscar nomination, Cate Blanchett returns to work with the director, while Rooney Mara looks to have her best material since «The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo» (also in the support
cast: «Portlandia» and Sleater - Kinney's Carrie Brownstein, awesomely).
Another Disney strategy would be to so thoroughly crush the competition so that your name and corporate style become synonymous with your product and automatically
casts your competitors
as inferior interlopers, forcing others to artless
ape your style to try to compete rather than trying something new, ultimately leading to the decades - long stagnation of the medium across and entire country.
