Since then, I've become a
casual fan of
racing games and although most people enjoy driving high end cars around a circular track in order to get the best times, I have to admit that sort of play tends to get a bit dull for me.
It would've been nice to actually see more of the
game in action and how it's going to be able to appeal to hardcore
racing fans,
casual observers and children; the session was more PR claptrap than demo / interview as originally planned.
The two handling modes do exactly what Codemasters intended them to do, allowing you to play for fun or more technically, and this means that the
game won't be too intimidating for
casual racing fans and won't be overly simplistic for those who prefer a tougher drive.
I personally am not a huge
fan of either
racing games or sports
games, and that didn't stop this
game from quickly becoming my favorite
casual and competitive multiplayer
game (replacing great
games like Counter Strike GO, and Smite).
I'll be the first to admit that I am a more
casual Forza
fan, but the league play aspect to the
game immediately clicked in my head as another way to improve my
game,
racing with like - minded people and moving up and down in divisions.
We have trouble imagining expert
racing fans perfecting the art of the Asphalt 5 takedown, and
casual gamers will definitely feel cheated by the difficulty.
It's easily one of the most ambitious titles I've ever played, and whether you're a
casual fan or a hardcore sim - racer, you simply won't find another
racing game that offers the sort of scope and value that Project Cars 2 does.
While the
game was perhaps a bit too realistic (and thus complicated) for the
casual player, GT3's track - day physics and driving mechanics made it a favorite of car fanatics and
racing game fans alike.
Let me preface this by saying that not only do I enjoy
racing games, but I'm also a
casual NASCAR
fan.
