Carlo McCormick is a New York art critic and curator, and has been the author of numerous publications, monographs, and catalogues on contemporary art and artists.
She has written catalogues and essays and lectured on a wide range of modern and contemporary artists, including Barbara Bloom, Lee Bontecou, John Chamberlain, William Eggleston, Isa Genzken, Robert Gober, Philip Guston, Wade Guyton, Ray Johnson, Anish Kapoor, Per Kirkeby, Barbara Kruger, Giorgio Morandi, Barnett Newman, Chris Ofili, Gerhard Richter, Robert Smithson, Cy Twombly, Mark Wallinger, and Gillian Wearing.
Her writing has appeared in Artillery, Art Practical, Afterimage, LEONARDO, and OPEN SPACE: The SFMOMA Blog, as well as in books and catalogues on contemporary American artists including Sonya Rapoport and Chitra Ganesh.
Programming includes a family day and a public symposium on contemporary Native American art and artists, including scholars and artists in the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue will include scholarly essays.
In celebration of the opening, a fully illustrated catalogue, A Family Affair: Modern and Contemporary American Art from the Anderson Collection at Stanford University, has been published in association with DelMonico Books / Prestel, and includes scholarly essays on the collectors, the collection, and individual artists and artworks represented in the collection.
She has written on many contemporary artists for Artforum and for various catalogues and publications, most recently on the L.A. painter Laura Owens, the Norwegian photographer, Torbjorn Rodland, the late L.A. artist Jason Rhoades, and the NYC / LA artist, Jordan Wolfson.
Known for discovering artists, representing masters, and placing important collections and archives into major public institutions, Pace / MacGill has presented some 200 exhibitions and published numerous catalogues on modern and contemporary photography.
