Depending on the time of year and conditions, you can
catch a variety of great sportfish species, including deepwater pelagic species like Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Atlantic Sailfish,
Blackfin Tuna, as well as Dorado (also known as Dolphin or Mahi Mahi).
If you enjoy off - shore trolling, a variety of fabulous species can be
caught in the regional waters including mahi mahi, wahoo, barracuda, kingfish, and tuna like yellowfin, bigeye, bluefin, bonito and
blackfin.
Besides blue marlin, there are many other oceanic species that can be
caught right off the island, including yellowfin and
blackfin tuna, mackerel, bonito, wahoo, white marlin and sailfish.
Blackfin and skipjack tuna are also found in the Cayman Waters and can be fun to
catch on spinning gear or daisy chains where you can
catch up to two, three and even four at a time.
While the prime billfishing months are April and May,
blackfin, bonito, dorado, kingfish, snapper and wahoo can virtually be
caught year - round.
Yellowfin tuna,
blackfin tuna, mahi mahi (April, May and June), wahoo (November - July) and marlin between 25 - 60 lbs are regularly
caught.
