Most states prohibit shooting cats by private citizens, but allow wildlife agents, animal control officers, and police to shoot cats under certain conditions, for instance if the cat appears to be rabid and threatening humans or other animals.
In previous years, feral cats in New Braunfels delivered to the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area by Animal Control or privatecitizens were euthanized.
