cenotes for scuba diving in Tulum and Playa del Carmen is unbelievable.
But what are the best
cenotes for diving?
Having passed up the reputable diving in Cozumel due to the cost, Dave and I decided to visit one of the local
Cenotes for a little snorkeling instead.
There are many beautiful cenotes in Tulum but they are not all good
cenotes for snorkeling.
Then head inland to our first
cenote for a snorkel in a subterranean cavern — believed by the ancient Maya to be a gateway to the underworld.

My love
for Mexico explodes when I think of
cenotes, swimming with turtles, swimming with whale sharks, galavanting in the turquoise waters of Isla Mujeres and visiting the Plastic Bottle Floating Island.
I went to Riviera Maya 9 years ago and although we had an opportunity to swim in one of the
Cenotes, I actually ddn't do it because at the time, I wasn't sure if I was confident enough in the water there especially
for snorkelling.
With underground rivers
for snorkeling, Xcaret Eco-Park is one of the Riviera Maya's top places to experience being inside a
cenote; on a previous visit, we spent a day at Xcaret.

The thing that sets Riviera Maya apart,
for me, is the abundance of
cenotes (sinkhole), caves and underground rivers.
Valladolid is another good base
for exploring the Yucatan Peninsula with affordable accommodation, close proximity to Chichen Itza (only 45 minutes away), and a bunch of different freshwater
cenotes nearby.
With underground rivers, caves, archaeological sites, and thousands of
cenotes (sinkholes) it's easy to see why this is a top destination
for travelers and nature - lovers alike.

for us to visit Tulum,

I liked Grand
Cenote better because there was more light and a few different areas
for newbies to explore.
