On the Caribbean side you have great visibility around Caribbean reefs near popular tourist spots like Cozumel and Cancun, and the world - famous
Cenotes which offer a unique underwater experience.
You can't rent a snorkel at Nicte Ha, but several
cenotes which do rent them, including Dos Ojos, are on the same road and it would be easy to hop from one to the next if you wanted to make a day out of it.
Since few rivers existed on the Yucatan Peninsula, the Mayans constructed their cities near
cenotes which were their source of water.
But they did have ziplining into
the cenote which I thought was awesome!
(Cenote Ik - Ill is
another cenote which is very beautiful).

As you enter Ik Kil,
which has some regular tourist stuff like a gift ship, food vendors and such, you then walk up to a railing and look down hundreds of feet into the
Cenote.
We took some great day excursions to local ruins and
cenotes,
which were both amazing, but every time we left the villa, we all agreed that we didn't need to go anywhere, the villa had it all.

Many precious objects were found at the bottom of this beautiful
cenote,
which indicates the Mayas used it for sacred rituals instead of human sacrifices.
We left the Tulum portion open,
which gave us the option to spend more time at Coba, or explore additional
cenotes if we so desired.
The area is dotted with Mayan archeological sites and
cenotes,
which are definitely worth a visit and the Museum of the Maya World in Chetumal is an excellent place to increase your anthropological, archeological and historical knowledge.
This is the Chichen Itza
Cenote and is commonly confused as being the same as
Cenote Ik Kil above —
which it is not.
This impact helped form the
cenotes, along with millions of years of erosion, plus rising water levels after the last ice age
which causes the caves to flood.

Cenote you'll find many delicate rock formations — including soda straw formations,
which are the preliminary stage of stalactite and stalagmite formation.

which are in the Yucatan peninsula.
Although the entrance is close to Dos Ojos

which runs parallel to the Dos Ojos system.

While there are many caves in the area, including the popular fresh - water snorkeling holes called
Cenotes, this one is still a living cave with a river streaming throughout the network of caves, many of
which have not even been explored.

which is located in the jungle, to snorkel in a refreshing underground

Grand
Cenote, Calavera, and Carwash are the most famous but be warned, you have to navigate caves and passages to get to some of the
cenotes,
which can be a claustrophobic experience for some.

which are natural sinkholes in the limestone bedrock — are found all over the Yucatan peninsula, and while some are very small, others have become very popular with locals and tourists who come to enjoy the clear, bright - blue waters.
Just 20 minutes» drive from Playa del Carmen, you'll find
Cenote Jardin del Eden, one of the prettiest in the region,
which is surrounded by lush greenery and huge rocks
which are perfect for sunbathing or diving.
There was an open area on the rocky surface at the water level,
which was completely packed with people, waiting in line to be able to jump into the
cenote from a platform above the water and another line to climb down one of the four wooden ladders into the water.

cenote, the hacienda property and the beautiful swimming pool.
Upon arriving at the
cenote, I immediately noticed that it was very commercialized and the environment almost felt artificial compared to the other
cenotes I had visited,
which had been surrounded by their natural jungle environment and felt much more rustic.
