cents during the Countdown
promotion.
Third, while I sold more
books in the first six months of 2014 than in 2015 (see rows 2 & 3), a lot of those
books were discounted to 99
cents as part of Kindle Countdown
promotions (my main promotional tool in 2014).
Other than waiving the number of reviews, the other criteria regarding content, etc. are identical to those of a Regular post with two exceptions: the
books can only be priced at 99

book offers are not allowed in the new release posts.

Also, you have to make the featured
book free or 99
cents, which means unless you sell thousands and thousands of
books, and / or you have several
books out and the
promotion significantly increases sales of your other titles, it isn't possible to earn back what you spent.
We talked about using the free

cent intro boxed set, trying to talk with the distributors to get
promotions, linking to all of your
books on all of the sites, and including sneak previews to entice the people who read the freebies to pick up the rest of the series.

But I had a special
promotion for my indie
books with B&N about 16 months ago, a Nook Spotlight that featured a 99 -
cent 1st - in - a-series
book of mine and the three other
books that followed in that series.
You can also get award flights by purchasing miles at a very advantageous rate, either during frequent 100 percent bonus
promotions or when you
book at the Miles / Money fare, paying at least 40 percent of the ticket in miles and the remainder in cash at a rate of 1.5
cents per mile.
I value Carlson Gold points somewhere around 0.4
cents each so, if you have the Premier Rewards Visa card, the
promotion would see you earning 20 points / dollar spent at Carlson properties which is essentially an 8 % rebate on your
booking.
At 1.81
cents / mile there will definitely be occasions where buying miles in this
promotion and using them to
book an award will save you money (possibly even a lot of money) but the key here is to make sure awards are available before you dive in and buy miles.
Unusually for me I purchased AAdvantage Miles in the December
promotion (at 1.8
cents each) and I did so because I knew I wanted to
book a lot of truly premium seats before the devaluation on 22 March.
If you were to buy Avios at 1.85
cents each in the current
promotion you could immediately use them to
book this fare for a total outlay of $ 473.70 ($ 462.50 + $ 11.20) saving yourself $ 188.30 per person.
Such a flight would normally cost between $ 5,000 and $ 10,000, making your points far more valuable than they would be when redeemed for gift cards, merchandise, and travel reservations
booked directly through American Express Travel, which are generally worth about one
cent each, with occasional
promotions that can increase their value.
I've looked at a number of IHG properties for stays within the
promotion period and there are some serious variances between properties that will allow you to «buy» 20,000 points per night
booked — not every property will give you the opportunity to manufacture points at a rate of 0.489
cents each.
This is a poor
promotion — don't buy United miles for 2.15
cents each unless for some reason buying miles and
booking an award online (which you can see is available right now) saves you money.
The net result gives me 40,000 IHG Rewards points (45,000 from the
promotion less 5,000 for the cash & points
booking) at a cost of 0.38
cents per point....
