When asked to describe their mood in the run up to their tests, 59 per
cent of children said that they were «nervous», 39 per cent «worried», 27 per cent «stressed», 17 per cent «sad and moody», while 16 per cent of the children asked said that it was «affecting their sleep».
When we talked to the children we found that most of them were annoyed by the noise from other children sharing the area, and 50 to 70 per
cent of these children said that they couldn't hear their teacher very well, or at all, when the other classes were doing group work.
Outside the classroom, 44 per
cent of children said that being a plumber, builder or electrician was «for boys», while just five per cent said this is was a job «for girls».
The levels of worry were highest (over 30 per
cent of children saying that they «always» worried) in Israel, Colombia, Spain and Nepal.
The report also found, of those children sampled, only 44 per
cent of children say that they have an opportunity to read independently in school or in a class at school, and far fewer (I think it was 16 per cent) were given the chance to do this every day or almost every school day.

children's charity also found that although eight out
of ten parents in a YouGov poll
said that they knew what to
say to their
child to keep them safe online, only 28 per
cent had actually mentioned privacy settings to them and just 20 per
cent discussed location settings.
