The research, published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), shows that 23 per
cent of employers find it difficult to recruit school leavers to engineering, IT or technical roles as they do not meet reasonable skill expectations.

cent)
of employers said they were recruiting engineering staff this year and
of those, more are
finding it difficult to recruit the people they need compared to 2013.
Meanwhile, in addition to the average salary increase remaining relatively steady year over year, the survey
found that the percentage
of employers who plan to freeze salaries appears to have stabilized at eight per
cent — in the same percentages as was projected in 2014.
The
findings show that the average value
of road traffic accident (RTA) personal injury claims rose by 3.4 per
cent, while insurance pay - outs for small
employers» and public liability (EL / PL) personal injury claims also increased by an average
of 10 and 12 per
cent respectively in this period.
The European Commission has
found a worrying 42 per
cent of UK
employers reported difficulties recruiting skilled IT workers — above the EU average — and predicts that there will be 900,000 unfilled technical vacancies in Europe by 2015, with the number
of digital and technology jobs growing at a rate
of more than 100,000 a year.
According to 78 per
cent of accounting and finance
employers, they
found 2016 to be a challenge in recruiting top talent.
This question should be urgent for Canadian business leaders and managers because the Hays Canada 2017 Salary Guide
finds that 62 per
cent of employers expect business activity to increase, but only 35 per
cent say they will increase headcount.
Despite this our survey
found that just 40 per
cent of employers feel that the vast majority
of their staff are engaged.
